This is one of a series of pictures of Redhall Mill that Edwin painted between 1947 and 1949, all very different from each other.
There were many mills on the Water of Leith when Edwin lived in the area during the 1920s, 30s and 40s and Edwin often gained inspiration from them. Most of these mills have now been demolished, but the buildings of Redhall Mill are still standing at the bottom of Katesmill Road.
