During 2020, Pictures of the Month marked the 70th anniversary of Edwin's first solo exhibition by featuring 12 of the paintings he exhibited in April 1950.
Six of the paintings were inspired by the same view of the Pentland Hills from Kingsknowe, but all of them are very different from one another. They're all highly coloured, but this one is unique in its use of geometrical shapes. It was painted in 1947 and is entitled From Kingsknowe, Looking S.E. in the exhibition catalogue.
