To See Ourselves as Ithers See Us, circa 1946

The current exhibition "Edwin G Lucas: A Purely Individual Painter", at Hawick Museum & Gallery from 05 Jul - 05 Oct 2025, includes the greatest number of Edwin's sketchbooks ever exhibited. Five of his striking Surrealist drawings from the 1940s are shown, three of them exhibited in public for the first time. This one is titled "To See Ourselves as Ithers See Us", a line from the last verse of the Robert Burns poem "To a Louse".
