Water of Leith Valley at Hailes Halt, 1948

This is the view looking North from Hailes Avenue, where Edwin lived from 1947 to 1952. The old Hailes Halt station is on the left and the buildings of Redhall Mill on the right, with the Water of Leith running between them.

There's a lovely half-page reproduction of this painting in the Summer 2017 edition of the Colinton Magazine, accompanying an article that looks forward to the official launch in December of a project to paint a new set of murals throughout the ex-railway tunnel at Colinton. The magazine was delivered to all the residents of Colinton during August and a few spare copies are available at Colinton Library, or you can find it online at Colinton Amenity Association. See pages 16-17 (and Edwin gets another mention on pages 20-21 too).
