Near Killearn, 1943

Edwin is one of the conscientious objectors featured in the Conscience Matters exhibition at the Scottish War Museum in Edinburgh Castle, 8 Mar 2019 - 26 Jan 2020. The exhibition explores the little-known story of British conscientious objectors during the Second World War.

The panel telling Edwin's story contains a reproduction of this watercolour, Near Killearn, painted in July 1943 when he was working as a hospital orderly at Killearn Hospital. Edwin exhibited the painting is his first solo exhibition, in 1950.
