Grotto, 1945
During 2020, Pictures of the Month marked the 70th anniversary of Edwin's first solo exhibition by featuring 12 of the paintings he exhibited in April 1950.
After using watercolours for most of the 1930s, Edwin was painting mainly in oils from the 1940s onwards. However he still turned occasionally to watercolours and Grotto, painted in 1945, was one of 20 watercolours he included in the 1950 exhibition.
