Boats in Harbour, 1947
During 2020, Pictures of the Month marked the 70th anniversary of Edwin's first solo exhibition by featuring 12 of the paintings he exhibited in April 1950.
Boats in Harbour is described as follows in Helen Scott's book Edwin G. Lucas: An Individual Eye:
"Colour and pattern predominate in this image of boats in a harbour. Although the essential shapes of the vessels and their fishing nets are present, the artist is more concerned with evoking the rhythms and shifting light of the coastal setting."
