​Redhall Mill Dam, 1937

​This is a view of the weir and footbridge just upstream of Redhall Mill, in Colinton Dell. It's one of Edwin's very first experiments in oil painting, dated 1937.

​The photo below shows that the view is little changed today. We can see the weir and the bridge behind, but denser vegetation obscures the houses in the distance. Of course, Edwin has made the scene much more colourful - a trademark of his.
