Edwin's first exhibition in England was held at the Beecroft Art Gallery in Southend-on-Sea from 10 June to 10 Sep 2023. Leading up to and during the exhibition, Picture of the Month featured some works that were being exhibited to a large audience for the first time.
This one, "Music", was painted in 1951, probably after Edwin's second solo exhibition closed in September of that year. We believe it's been exhibited only once before - in Edwin's exhibition at the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh in Oct-Nov 1989.
