Edwin's first exhibition in England was held at the Beecroft Art Gallery in Southend-on-Sea from 10 June to 10 Sep 2023. Leading up to and during the exhibition, Picture of the Month featured some works that were being exhibited to a large audience for the first time.
It was the first time this painting had been displayed in public since Edwin's first solo exhibition, in 1950. He painted the view of the Water of Leith Valley and Pentland Hills from Kingsknowe several times in 1947, but each depiction is different. This one is notable for its rich colouring and his use of geometric shapes.
