Female Life Drawing

To conclude our story of Edwin's travels when working as a hospital orderly during World War 2, marking their 80th anniversary, here is one of his life drawings. He returned to Edinburgh, to work at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, some time during 1944. He was back in his studio at 5 Alva Street in time to give that address when he registered for Life Drawing classes at Edinburgh College of Art, starting in Autumn 1944. At last he was able to start resuming his artistic career, although it would be 1946 before he really got into his stride.
