Eclipse, 1984
One of Edwin's late-career works was 'Eclipse', painted in 1984. Here's how Helen Scott describes it in her book 'Edwin G. Lucas: An Individual Eye':
"This abstract painting portrays a series of orbs, clustering and overlapping in the manner of an eclipse. Their rich colours seem to glow against the dark, brooding backdrop. By this point the artist was in his early seventies, but he was still compelled to seek out new expressive possibilities in his work."
