Diagnosis 1 is Edwin's very first Surrealist work, painted in August 1939. The title almost certainly refers to Freudian psychoanalysis, which had a great influence upon the Surrealists.
This painting was included in the exhibition at Bourne Fine Art from 27th March to 17th April 2014. It was the first time it had been shown in public for over 60 years.
