Mossy Mill, Curriemuirend, 1946

During 2020, Pictures of the Month marked the 70th anniversary of Edwin's first solo exhibition by featuring 12 of the paintings he exhibited in April 1950.

Mossy Mill, Curriemuirend, painted in 1946, was one of the 20 watercolours he included in the 1950 exhibition. This view looks down to the Water of Leith from the outskirts of Juniper Green with the Pentland Hills in the distance, He painted it a number of times, but the naive depiction of the buildings make this one unique.
