The Eildon Hills from Bemerside, 1933
Edwin's exhibition in the Borders has just reached the end of its run, but it seems a good time to highlight his watercolour of a famous view of the Eildon Hills, painted in 1933. The scene is often called "Scott's View" because it was a favourite view of Walter Scott. During Edwin's lifetime it had pride of place above the fireplace in the dining room of the family home, probably because it was prized not only by Edwin but also his wife Marjorie, who was born and raised in nearby Melrose.
